Conference 15
November 7-10, 2004
Pecs, Hungary

This year we are especially excited about a new AUDEM initiative, described in the Call for Papers, to create a European Democracy Project (EDP), in collaboration with the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, The New York Times and the International Herald Tribune. The EDP will be an effort on the part of European and American universities to advance democracy and civic engagement in Europe and the US. We are pleased to invite you and other representatives from your university to join us in this important project.

Over the years AUDEM has brought together some 700 scholars and university administrators from 280 colleges, universities, and other organizations from 31 countries and 27 US states. It has presented a range of unique opportunities for us to work together, establish institutional relationships, and together to advance the place of our universities in the development of democracy in all our countries. For those reasons we invite you to continue your participation and your university's formal membership in AUDEM.

I loo
k forward to being able to welcome you to Pecs in November. Sincerely,

John Ryder
President, Alliance of Universities for Democracy
